[Tom Daigon] “Then goes on to say… now not only can you use the preview files, you can use them with Smart Rendering.

Thats what I was referring to earlier. It doesnt recompute those preview files frame by frame like it used to.”

Yes you are right. You can use Preview files with Smart Render provide you’ve already built said preview files.

I guess I don’t normally preview my timeline before exporting in PPro (due to the Mercury Playback Engine I suppose), so this wouldn’t likely factor into my workflow (but it may for others). In order to build the preview files it takes just as long as if you were to export it out. However, the time savings happens if you need to go back in and change the timeline a small amount. Then you rebuilt that small edit section as a preview file and Smart Render out and you haven’t spent nearly as much time on your second “final” attempt.

    As the ariticle says:

“As Adobe continues to focus on delivering world-class innovation through Creative Cloud and digital fulfillment, we will be phasing out shrink-wrapped, boxed versions of Creative Suite and Acrobat products. Electronic downloads for Creative Suite and Acrobat products will continue to be available—as they are today—from both Adobe.com, as well as reseller and retail partners. We are in the process of notifying our channel partners and customers, as plans solidify in each region.

It says electronic downloads will continue.

that is the biggie though. The point is that Adobe are likely about to get a metric ton of people who need to know that a Pro Res/DNX timeline is going to go out native. If you edit narrative or factual in pro res, that it goes out without recalculation.

It appears to go in the order of six to one off the demo OSX 60″ encode.

Being pessimistic: so that’s a thirty minute programme output, with timeline largely ready to go, as ProRes, all baked out in around say..
say twenty hyper-threaded minutes? on current good hardware?

it doesn’t make sense they always mention the different CS when the announce the new versions before release. But not this time.

Well, when you rent the Cloud you get it by electronic download.

I dont see anything that says you can rent the cloud monthly or purchase the suite for full price. That would make a clear distinction for me. Its a bit fuzzy at best for the moment.

Adobe has been saying for the past year that Creative Cloud users get advanced access to new features. This just falls in line with that.
