Clothilde
Posted by Ulrich on November 7, 2007 at 8:20 pmHello
In Cinema 10.5 i’m having Problems with the collison with clothilde objects.
Im animating a object (cube with clothilde collision tag) which passes through a curtain (plane with a clothilde tag), but the cube passes right throug the plane without affecting it? Both objects are polygon – objects.
Am i doing something wrong? Or has something changed in 10.5 which i’m unaware of?thanks a lot

November 8, 2007 at 6:24 amYou didn’t cash the cloth before you animated the cube, did you? Otherwise I can’t figure what it might be.

No i din’t cash the cloth.
If i let a cloth “fall” on to a collision object everything works fine. But as soon as i animate a collision object “trough” a cloth the cloth object doesn’t react to the collision?
I tried it on 2 different PC’s (both with Version 10.5) so it can’t be the PC.
Has anyone else with 10.5 the same problem? Any Ideas? Thanks

Thanks for the tip. I have tried that, but it still won’t work.

November 9, 2007 at 4:01 amI see. I tried a setup (cloth tag on plane – collider tag on cube in an animated null) in 9.6 and got what I expected – the cube moves the cloth. I brought that into 10.5 (well, the demo of 10.5) and it punches straight through, only rippling the cloth as it goes through – I get better but inconsistent results by moving the collider tag to the null containing the cube….

This is a known bug that myself and several other beta testers have reported to the developers at MAXON. Unfortunately there is no fix at the moment other than to use an earlier version of Cinema 4D than R10.5. Everything works as expected in R10.111 and below. I assure you the developers have been made well aware of this issue, so hopefully things will be working as expected in the next dot upgrade of Cinema 4D R10.Regards,

July 1, 2008 at 4:55 pmCloth collision is working fine if the collider stays still, if the collider moves then there is a simple workaround 3DKiwi put out there – apply a Point Cache tag to the moving (animate it first) collider then click Store State then Calculate and it works – You can even change the collider’s animation and it still works with no recalculate.
