Closed Captions
Greetings Fellow Premiere-ites,
I have a complex issue at hand, and need some advice.
We shot and edited a project that the client then wanted a closed captioning version of.
So before consulting me, my bosses sent off a master of the program to a company that did the closed captioning, which they in turn sent back on a Beta.
Now, I’ve never worked with closed captioning before, but as you all probably know, it is on a hidden channel, and can only be viewed on televisions that have a closed captioning option on them.
The client does not want to have to ‘activate’ any closed captioning option when they are watching the DVD. They simply want the captions to already be there.
So now, I transfered the closed caption beta to MiniDV, and the code for the captioning is still in tact. From there, I have been trying to play the MiniDV tape on a device that will do so with the closed captioning so that I can recapture it into Premiere with the captions running. I have been unsuccessful thus far.
I have also looked for a television able to play closed captioning that also has an output so that I can go composite to Premiere (thus Premiere would be capturing exactly what’s on the TV screen). I have not been able to locate a TV that will do so.
Any suggestions? Thanks a lot.
