[Paul Huppe] “I’m running Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10.0 for a client and am trying to do CC (usually work in FCP)”
Are you trying to add broadcast CEA608/CEA708 closed cpationing for just Windows Media closed captioning? Movie Studio only supports Windows Media captions. You need Vegas Pro to do 608/708 captions.
[Paul Huppe] “I can see the CC markers on the timeline, but cannot see the result in the preview pane (no option appears in drop-down options)”
There is no way to preview the captions in Movie Studio. Again you would need Vegas Pro to get this capability.
[Paul Huppe] ” I tried exporting as WMV; I see the video, but no CC.”
Did you turn on captioning in the Windows Media Player? (Ctrl+Shift+C) That should display them.
[Paul Huppe] “I’m starting to think the Platinum version can’t handle it; but can’t find anything about this on their website.”
The “Platinum” version is just the consumer Movie Studio version. It would be more like Final Cut Express. You need the Vegas Pro version for capabilities like those found in Final Cut Pro.
