Clock wipe transition in Vegas Pro 13
Posted by Hiran De silva on July 2, 2019 at 6:23 pmI thought it would be straight forward (like the Fly In transition I got to work!) …
I’m trying to have a top layer clip, a hand drawn circle with a transparent background, to use as a Call Out – ie. to circle an item in a screen recording to point it out. So I placed the clip on the timeline, I created a Fade-In on the leading edge of the clip. And then I dragged and dropped a Clock Wipe (Default) transition on to it.
When I play it, the clip Fades-In, not ‘draw the circle’ as I intended.
What am I doing wrong please?
Thank you.

Hi Hiran! O….K….. As I’m having a little difficulty trying to interpret your description, would you mind posting a ScreenGrab of what you’ve got so far?

July 2, 2019 at 9:18 pmYes. Graham that’s what’s supposed to happen. I’ll try it on a New Production. There must be something interfering with it working as it should. Or I’ve done it wrong ☹
I’ll report back. Thanks. -

Hi Hiran. Using a NEW Veg, do a quick test using my layout. Keep it simple. ????

July 3, 2019 at 8:12 amGraham, I see what’s wrong with mine.
The clip I want to Clock Wipe Transition is positioned at the top of the canvas. So the centre of the circle should be the centre of the circle. But Vegas is thinking it is the centre of the canvas.
So, how do I make the Clock Wipe go round the circle please? Thanks

Ah, now I understand more. Was THIS your original issue? Was it? My example starts of with a Symmetrical O, but maybe we need to explore other options if your Graphic is Asymmetrical.
Please post that Graphic as a PNG and I’ll investigate it. We’re getting there! ????

July 3, 2019 at 9:26 amWoah?! Now, IMHO, that’s not for Clock Wipe, nun-uh. ????
You’ve got asymmetricals and overlaps and sizing that’s going to banjax Clock Wipe. Hmmm…. Y’know what, it’s like a Map Journey thats got to double back on itself. I’ve done these before, about a billion years ago. It involves Compositing Layers and soon. The other thing you/we could consider is a Tracking Mask Reveal – Yeah? Does that make sense?
Or maybe I’m overthinking this…..?
