    Hello,

Not sure if this is the right place but here goes:

I am directing a football match shortly for TV and I need to create a clock to count up in seconds from 0 to 100 minutes. Can I desong pne in FCP or do you know where I can buy one. Alternatively do you know some software eg aftereffects that can easily create this..

    Cheers,

    JULIAN

    https://web.mac.com/piero.fiorani/PieroF_FCE_Effect/Counter_Display.html

    instructions from Piero:

    – after installation select the Counter Display generator from the small popup menu bottom right of the viewer window
    – change its duration to 1:40:00:00 (100 minutes) on the top left timecode field in the viewer
    – in its Control tab set: Type=Up, Format=mmm:ss, Show Unit=OFF
    – drag it to the timeline and render

We always have a cheap fixed lens camera for shooting the scoreboard clock on the truck. Bring it in as a cropped image (DVE) or key it in and matte fill the key so it looks more ‘electronic’, pretty much SOP.
If there is a Chyron there should be a clock in it, but it will tie up one of your output channels. You could lay it off to tape or your replay machine, but that would tie up that resource, which is the same for a FCP generated clock.
See if the truck has a ‘Fox Box’, that will have what you want without using up a tape machine, or one of the Chyron channels.

Hello Julian! How the hell are you? Still directing football, like the good old days at MTV?!

If you find the answers here a bit techie, let me know – I’ll sort something out for you!

    Cheers,

    Ben
