clipwrap alternative for windows?

I’ve been transcoding AVCHD to ProRes422 in Prelude and everything works smoothly. I use Prelude because I work with four other editors and we have a media management system that picks up the metadata we input in Prelude so all of us can find assets on our server.

BTW I couldn’t find a clear answer as to what I’m missing when I copy an mts file from within the SD card with AVCHD when for example:

1. The length of the shot is less than the file split limit.
2. Audio is a single channel, mono or stereo.

This is true.

This is a good rule of thumb, but it’s also an over-simplification. Pr uses Adobe’s media handling library, MediaCore, to encode/decode MOV files with certain specific, supported codecs. If a codec is not supported by MediaCore, encode/decode falls back to the significantly slower pathway you mentioned: communicating with Apple’s 32-bit QuickTime system via the 32-bit helper process which uses the internal network stack.

CineForm is one of the codecs directly implemented with high performance in MediaCore. You can read and write CineForm MOVs on Windows without “Adobe QT32 Server.exe” running.
