    Hi,
    I have been using vegas for a while as it is simple and powerful.
    I had some concerns with the time line on new vegas (movie studio Platinum 9.0)

    While working on a project i left spaces on the timeline for some shots that were missing, and edited the rest now when the space was filled I had to to drag all the edited clips across on the time line for continuation, the problem is that the clips are chopped in sequences from 5 seconds to 30 – 40 seconds and it has got alot of video overlays and transitions etc, the transitions took me a while to achieve what i wanted to now i can’t drag more than one clip across the timeline at a time which means if I do one by one it’s gonna take me a while and the worse thing is I am going to lose the transition and other FX which i spent much time on, how can I drag collection of clips across at once with out losing the transitions and FXs, please help me urgently as I am way behind my schedule for this project

    for a reference I hav a photo to help demonstrate what I have written above

    any help will be appreciated
    Thanks in advance

    Enable Ripple Edit (it’s a timeline icon) and make sure that All Tracks, Markers and Regions is selected in the dropdown box next to it.
    Grab the first clip of the section after the gap and drag it backwards to eliminate the gap.
    Turn off Ripple Edit so that it doesn’t mess you up.

    Hey Mike,
    Thanks a lot for your help, I was wondering where the icon was but searched help topics for ripple edit and got it.
    I have a couple of more issues with one with aspect ratios but I think it would be better to post it on new thread so other users can find it.

    Also on Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0, I can’t figure out how to change the motion of the film (how to do fast motions and slow motions). On older versions I could just drag the motion line on the clip file to change it.. any suggestions will be appreciated

    regards;

    Toofan, I know that none of the Movie Studio offerings have a Velocity envelope but the Ctrl-Drag trick might work.
    Place your cursor at the end of a clip, hold down the Ctrl key and drag it forwards or backwards as desired.
    This will give you up to a + or – 4X speed difference.
    If you want to do the entire timeline, you’ll need to group all the clips (select all them and group them using the G key) and then use this technique, placing the cursor at the end of the very last clip.
    Hope this makes sense.
