I’m trying to streamline a really tight project. I’m capturing clips into FCP on my G5 via AJA/IO at 8-bit uncompressed. The onine editing will be done on the G5 desktop system. After capturing a tape to the Huge raid, I then copy the clips to a FW-800 drive, duplicating the clips. I would then like to import those clips from the FW drive into FCE running on a Powerbook just so the producer can view and log them off site and pull time code numbers of bites from the clips to be used in the on-line. The problem is when the clips are imported into FCE, the timecode info is not coming in and all of the clips show a start time of 00:00. FCE doesn’t seem to allow importing of batch lists or XML. Is there a way to get these clips into FCE (V3.x) with the time code intact?
    Thanks,
    Tom

The timecode is in QT files, but it’s not displayed in FCE. There is a free filter which will overlay TC like Timecode Reader. I’m not sure if it’s real-time. https://web.mac.com/piero.fiorani/iWeb/PieroF%20FCE%20Effect/Welcome.html

Batch lists don’t import, but you can import an XML file. Make a new FCE project and drag the XML file from the Finder into the Browser window and it’ll populate the Browser. It will work with version 2 or version 1 XML. Does not work with version 3 XML.

    All the best,

    Tom
