Hi. I have a client that gives me media files that he captures via Sony Vegas. I’m not sure if this is an issue with Vegas or his camera (a Sony Z5U). Every clip ends with a frame or two from the following clip. Does anyone have any idea why this happens and how to keep it from happening?

I’ve heard about such problems with DV/HDV footages after the capture in Vegas. Your client can try HDVSplit for capturing. In addition, you can use a script that can remove a couple of frames at the end of each selected event (although I have no links, maybe someone else will post a link to a free script)

Is he using the Vegas capture utility? I use HDVSplit (it’s free) and haven’t ever seen this.

By the way – if it’s on the timeline, it’s an Event, not a Clip.

Yea, this is a bug in the Vegas HDV capture utility that Sony hasn’t fixed in several releases (and probbaly never will now that everyone is going tapeless). I turn off scene detection because of this when I capture HDV tapes. I agree that HDVSplit is a better alternative.
