I just noticed that the same clip opened in QuickTime looks noticeably different in terms of luminance and chrominance than it does within FCP. I’m looking at them side by side on the same monitor and the QT version is slightly brighter and less saturated. Is there some setting in FCP that adjusts view?

Here are frame grabs of both, FCP first and then QT.

Just to confirm this is not all in my head, I reimported these two stills into FCP and compared them on the scopes. The QT clip does raise the levels on the waveform and parade and drops the peak level on the vectorscope from about 37% to 33%. I know this is an imprecise way of checking this, but it does confirm there’s a perceptible change.
