i’m having the strangest problem. whenever i apply any effect to a clip in my timeline and render it, the clip changes. same shot, but totally different in and out points, thumbnail changes and everything.

i tried a roundabout solution and just exported the clips straight from the browser and figured i could just apply the same effects in after effects, but even the exported quicktime movie is something totally different?

doesn’t happen with all my clips, just the one shot i need right now of course. but this is such a strange problem that i’m worried it will start happening more and more?!

    any thoughts?
    hope all is well,

I’ve had similar problems in the past where I would try to matchframe clips in the timeline and it would take me to a different spot, and sometimes a different clip in the timeline. What I did in those cases, was trash my preferences, and then I would manually track down the clip and recut it into the sequences. If it’s one or two clips, it’s certainly annoying, but that worked for me. If it’s a multitude of clips, it could be a file linkage problem. Also, I’ve had similar problems with corrupted render files. Especially if I’ve applied an effect to a clip, rendered it, and then applied a new effect to that same clip. You could also try using the Render Manager under the “Tools” tab to delete your render files. You’ll have to rerender everything, but it might clear up some of those issues.

so, unfortunately this didn’t solve my problem. it’s still just this one clip and perhaps i’ll try to even redigitize the shot and just bring it as something totally different (name wise at least?).

other than that, these “gremilins” are relentless in their inconsistency.

Did you manage to solve this Ignacio?
I have exactly the same issue! But with dvcpro in fcp. it’s completely weird.
    Best wishes,
