Clip names changed in fcp 7 sequence
The clip names in my fcp 7 project sequence have changed. They still correctly reference the media and ‘reveal in finder’ brings up the correct clip, but the name is different which is causing a lot of confusion when i search for certain media. Is there anyway to get fcp to show the correct clip name aside from re-cutting the material in?

I think this was a bug in the early release of FCP7. I don’t know if there is a way to get your names back but updating to 7.0.3 is a good idea. You might try searching this forum as it came up a bit a few years back when FCP7 was first released.

Then it is weird. I recall the bug had something to do with having a jpeg as the first shot but I thought that bug was fixed long ago. Not sure what has caused your situation.
It might be fixed by trashing thumbnails.

do you have master clips in the browser?
if you do, then you can change the clip names to match the file names, and the changes will go through your project.
you can do it by right clicking on the browser clip,
or select the clip/s and go to Modify Menu.nick
