Clip names and effects
Posted by Scott Davis on November 16, 2012 at 6:49 pmWhen I add more than one effect to a clip; the clip name no longer shows and only the name of the effect shows. Is there a way to have it not do this?

November 16, 2012 at 7:47 pmCan you give some more details? From what you’re describing, it sounds like a bug. That definitely should not be happening.
When you say that you’re adding more than one clip, you’re dragging and dropping the effect holding the OPTION key, right?

November 16, 2012 at 8:27 pmUnfortunately, as far as I know, that’s just part of Avid. I’ve never seen it act differently.
I can see how it’d be pain in some situations.
Can anyone confirm if this is just part of Avid? That would be a nice thing to toggle on/off.

November 17, 2012 at 10:00 amI had this at one stage during the beta testing of V6 but can’t remember the cause.I’d suggest creating a new user setting first.
Then check timeline settings clip text.
If no joy try a new project and copy the bin into it.Pat Horridge

November 17, 2012 at 4:16 pmIs the archivist going through the timeline clip by clip, or are they using one of the reporting methods out of a MC timecode such as EDL, XM, TAB, etc. and working from that? In those cases, the clip persists as needed. But knowing exactly how the archivist wants to work would probably lead to one solution over another.
