Activity Forums VEGAS Pro “Clip fit” can do?

  • “Clip fit” can do?

I’m not sure what this feature is called in Vegas, but here’s what I’d like to know how to do:

Picture a video clip “B” sandwiched between video clips “A” and “C”, with 15-frame fades on both ends of “B”.

I would like to cue the entire “B” clip sooner or later, keeping its existing duration, keeping its position relative to “A” and “C” and keeping its 15-frame fades on both ends.

How to do, and what’s it called?

    THANKS!

    It’s called a slip-trim.
Click the event to select it.
Hold down the Alt key (notice the cursor change) and slide it right or left to change the in/out points.
The preview window will also change to show you these same points.

So, where does Vegas show me how many frames I’m slip trimming? I see the in/out image in the preview window, but no indication of how many frames I’m moving either direction (?)

Kelly, all I can suggest is adding the timecode FX to the event to see how much you’re slipping it.

Hmmm… well, that gave me timecode but nothing changed after I made a change. This looks like a feature that got stopped short of the finish line…
