alas – this is a pretty broad question (think “can anybody tell me how to fix my transmission?”)… :-/
what do you want it to do? share files? other functionality? what server scripting languages do you support on your isp? do you want sessions or is just plain htaccess (the little popup u/p combo) ok? and is that even feasible (i.e. are you running apache or iis on your site?)…
if you can narrow it down a bit, i can point you to some handy resources, but without knowing your goal, it’s hard to answer…

September 29, 2006 at 3:25 amSorry about that. I know a little HTML, a little CSS. I have crowbarred my way through building a couple of weblogs on WordPress but this is a little over my head.
Basically, I want to give my clients simple access to their work, to have two fields on a client login page, username and password. From that page my clients can access a page that has their video as embedded Quicktime files or a list of sample links that leads them to the embedded video.
I’m using DreamHost, Apache. Thanks for any help.

ok – well, you might be able to use this client area script i wrote a few years back:
https://www.sitruc.com/downloads/php_client_area.zip
you need php and the ability to have safe mode disabled (check with your isp)…i don’t offer technical support for it, but it has lots of docs in the install.txt file that you can use to check support, etc…
other than that, you’d have to find another scripted thing in php, asp, jsp, etc. – there are a lot online that you can implement, but writing one takes a decent understanding of web programming…
hope that helps!
