  • Click on an image and have it select and go to timeline

So I am working on some very complex TV spots with 200+ layers each.

I love how in AE CS6 you can click on an image in the canvass and it selects the layer… however, it does not scroll down in my timeline to that layer.

I wondered if there is a way to click on an element (text or an image) in the canvass and have AE automatically scroll down my 200+ layers to bring up the layer I just clicked on… rather than me having to scroll down in AE to find it (albeit selected)

    Thanks!

You can use the “x” key to view the currently selected layer(s) at the top of the Timeline stack.

Thanks Roland, but I cannot have my layers moving… I have a structure to my projects.

I just want the timeline to scroll up, rather than have the layer move up.

    Is this possible?

Hi Joseph, apologies if I wasn’t sufficiently clear but the Timeline is auto-scrolled such that the selected layer(s) – the Timeline’s layer hierarchy isn’t affected.
