  • Cleaning up duplicate clips when importing projects

    Hi all:

Let’s say I’m working on an AE project and I want to import another one (that is, another .AEP file) into it. Let’s also say that both projects use the same clips. In those cases, instead of recognizing the duplicate clips, AE will create two instances of the same clip, and if you try to delete one of them, it will delete those layers from the corresponding comps. The only solution is to go comp by comp by hand and replace each layer with the proper clip instance (the one you don’t want to delete).

Is there any script or utility that can automate this kind of work? I had a look at aescripts.com, but didn’t find anything similar.
