Well, my once-every-90-minutes PP crash just happened.

I’ve deleted my preferences (Adobe’s usual solution) many times, and it works for about a week.

    I’m working with small (<2mb) stills in a 1920×1080 timeline. So… It’s not like I’m working with 8K footage…

My computer has many old versions and leftovers from adobe. I wonder if deleting all of that, and reinstalling 2021 apps, will help with my issues.

Any thoughts on that? Good idea? Suicide?

How would I go about it?

    Thanks!

    Hi Frank

I’ve had more luck getting answers on my Facebook Premiere group. However you need to post a lot more detail to get help

Computer, ram, graphics card, drives, OS, PP version (don’t say “the latest” be specific) and clearly describe what you mean by crash, what you were doing when it happened, etc.

Also don’t delete anything yet. We’ve had issues where we sometimes need to use an older version. A lot of folks cursed themselves when they realized Encore disappeared, same with Dolby surround audio.

Kyle Koch is a moderator and very helpful.

I don’t use PP, but have the Creative Cloud system and also have been getting continual crashes several times a day. I get the message “You have been signed out”. But I never sign out. Haven’t been able to find a solution yet.

As Bret Hampton pointed out there’s a lot that we don’t know about your system that could point to a possible solution.

You also have to be aware of your need for older versions (project compatibility, stability, plugin compatibility etc.), but for the most recent older versions these can still be installed via the Creative Cloud app. This is only for the most recent older versions though, nothing as old as CS5/6.

That being said, I recently went through this process. I went full nuclear on Adobe but one step shy of a reformat. You can go through the steps provided by Adobe themselves in using the CCCleaner tool.

In my case, the CCCleaner tool still didn’t clean out everything. I still had to manually delete a lot of folders/files in my %appdata% and %programdata% folders as well as deleting keys within the registry (<i style=”font-weight: bold;”>beware if you go this route as you can irreparably harm your windows install! Be very sure you know what you’re doing if you do this!).

Whatever your choice, best of luck!
