Cleaner 6.5…
Posted by David Healy on October 11, 2006 at 8:13 pmHello Folks,
Two quick questions: is this a *universal* app (ver. 6.5)? Does it compress to REAL format.
Thanks
David Healy

October 11, 2006 at 8:25 pmDid you go to their site to see first?
Do you mean universal binary? Or universal in the sense that it compresses to every format?
It’s not UB, and yes it compresses to Real.

Why do you want to compress to Real? Real is a dying compression format that is becoming less and less common by the day. Everything now is either Quicktime, WMV, or Flash. And which ever you choose, Compressor can do them all – with the plugins added, of course.
For WMV, you’ll need the Flip4Mac WMV Studio. For Flash, you could use On2’s Flix Exporter for Flash 8. Both are under $200 and work absolutely well.

ignorant clients, isn’t it?). Tell them it’s dead and inform them of the much better apps
available to compress to a dying format. 🙂

October 15, 2006 at 12:35 amHey lightnng….the new 6.5.1 update (versiontracker.com) fixes all those problems. It is now a stable app and quite useful next to the klunkyness of compressor etc. I still like its interface.

October 17, 2006 at 9:31 am…and just to be fair to Autodesk…I have now got the update, and the program seems to be doing exactly what its supposed to. Its in the middle of a batch of compressions, and not crashed yet. Thanks again for telling me about the upgrade.

October 17, 2006 at 3:04 pmwell i prefer the popwire wmv 9.
And i can’t really judge with todays compressions – the source material was crappy to start with.
