Circle origami unfold together
Hey all!
I’ve done many unfolding animations, but I was asked about this and I can’t figure an easy way to do it. In fact, I initially thought I’d have to figure out how to do it in C4D… but I gave it a shot in AE and came semi-close for a rough pass. Basically, the best way to describe it, is it a folded paper circle opened up at the same time to reveal itself. Remember those MASH games when you were a kid? Same concept… I can fold things out in linear steps, no problem… but can’t figure out if there is a way to connect the “points” that need to stay connected as the circle opens (like a flower). Here is an animation of a rough I did today. Basically, I built one side, duped it and flipped it, and then built top and bottom as filler to cover gaps where points didn’t connect… it’s not ideal as I also need to to try and include a client card in the precomp so it unfolds with the animation which means that gets flipped all which ways. Any thoughts? Can expressions help me at all here?
