    Hi –

If I capture with my Cinewave card using the “YUV to DV” setting as a way to get a lower quality and less disk hungry codec, am I forced into the 720 x 480 space? It seems so.
I ask, because if I then reingest using a 720 x 486 codec, any graphics, etc will be out of place, no?

I’m a former Avid type you has done almost on off-lining on FCP, so I’m still trying to get my head around it…

    Thanks

    Ron

NTSC-DV is 720×480 frame size. Uncompressed NTSC-D1 is 720×486. So yes, your graphics will require tweaking once you go into the 486 timeline.

What I usually do is create my graphics in the final frame size I am going to online in (720×486 for SD). I can then adjust as needed in my offline and then when I online I have the final frame size and there’s less tweaking/remaking that I have to do.
