  • Cinema Tools won’t conform files shot with MARK III

Posted by Pradip Patil on July 19, 2012 at 1:44 pm

    Hi

I am trying to conform 25 fps files to 24fps using cinematools. Footage is shot with mark II as well as mark III.
Mark II footage is conformed as usual. but when conforming mark III nothing happens, It just puts them all in skipped folder.
I am using cinema tools 4.5

Any Solution. Couldn’t find anything about this on the forum

    Dave,

But I have successfully done this on H.264 files earlier, those were shot on MARK II.
This time I have mark II & mark III mixed footage. I have tried qtchange demo. It shows that it has conformed to 24 fps but after log & transfer in fcp those mark III files still show 25 fps timecode.

I just had a look at log file generated by cinmeatools. it says
“Skipped — The movie has temporal compression EX4C3894.MOV”

    Dave

I am still in the beginning phase of the project. I just did what u said. First transferred the file using log & transfer and then conformed it 24 fps. ButI still get the timecode increment from 00 to 24 (that is for the mark III files , mark II files have 00 to 23 only). Will this be a problem later on for EDLs or XMLs?

What do people generally do about it?

I agree with Dave, and i’m pretty sure you have not succeeded on other times.
However, It does not HAVE to be ProRes.
Any I frame only codec will be fine.

For QTchange, it cannot conform to another FPS, no matter the codec. What QTchange can do is set the playback FPS, not the ‘original’ FPS. (This is in the manual btw…)
(test it with an insane value)

Here are the two screen shots. 1st one is Mark II file, you can see that it allows me to conform. And then with canon’s latest plugin for FCP, I can L&T the files without any trouble.

The 2nd one is from mark III where conform is disabled.

    Thanks Dave.

I got 5DtoRGB batch, so I guess this issue is not a problem as of now.
But I willl do what you have suggested. I have both QT 7 & QTX.

    Hello,

I have a similar issue with the MK3 footage. Start of day I tried to cinema tools a few clips from 60fps to 24. I usually do this in its H.264 form and after the FPS conform I then take it into Mpeg streamclip.

Middle of the day I installed a AVCCAMImporter plugin so I can look at .MTS footage from my friends Sony handycam pain in the A$$.

End of day and restart after restart Cinema Tools doesnt want to conform these 60fps MK3 files at all.

so do I need a new plugin? Am I screwed or did I screw up with the installation of that AVCCAMImporter plugin?

And I converted 1 of these clips in mpeg to prores422 and cinema tools wont recognize the clip.
