I am beginning a new project based on 35mm4perf film and ALE’s from a telecine. I get a 23.98 tape and am creating a Cinema Tools database from the provided ALE’s. Everything comes into cinema tools fine. I’ve read through the manual and it says that if I export a batch list to FCP I get reel, clip name (based on the shot and take fields), comment, and timecode information. It then says that if I export the XML batch list, I get all the previous info and also get things such as keycode and film info.

Well when I export the batch list, I get everything but the film information which is what I would expect. However, the audio tracks all come in as 4 mono when some of the ALE tracks are labeled as MOS or 3 mono.

When I bring in the XML, I get all the film info, but lose scene and shot/take information. This also brings in the audio tracks the same as the batch list.

Has anyone had this problem/gotten around it? Thanks for your help.

    Mike

Also, I’d be glad to provide an ALE if someone wants to recreate my work.

I realized just after posting, that if I bring in a batch list and digitize, then Sync with the database, I’ll get the keycode info to be available in FCP.

Still having the audio track issue however.

Try importing ALE directly in FCP. It is in Import>Cinema Tools Telecine Log…

I tried that and it still does not come in with the correct audio assignments. I think it takes whatever the audio from the first event and assigns that throughout the reel. Sometimes i get 4 channels, sometimes none.
