Cinema Tools: 60fps to 24fps – can’t conform ProRes clip
I use Final Cut Stuido and recently purchased an A7s. I had to download an app (Aiseesoft HD Converter) to convert my XAVC-S test clips to ProRes (as my version of Compressor won’t support). This all worked out fine and now I can work with my test clips in FCP 7.
While working with a 60fps clip I tried to conform to 24fps in Cinema Tools. However, the conform button isn’t highlighted. Trying to make this as simple as possible for those who can help. If there are any suggestions/observations please help. I can’t seem to find a remedy. ProRes files from my Canon cameras have all worked fine conforming in Cinema Tools.

Thanks, Dave. I have since narrowed it down to a codec problem as you said. That app I mentioned does specifically says “Apple ProRess 422” in it’s many options.
Just for the heck of it I took the file I got out of Aiseesoft and put it in Compressor and the ProRes file that resulted from that worked in Cinema Tools. I don’t think I’ll be taking that route but I just wanted to see if it would work.
There has GOT to be some way FCP7 can still be friends with the world…

Necessary Evil in my case. I hate it too. I’ve tried three apps and none of them work for me. Adobe Media Encoder did the trick (downloaded the trial).
