I am hitting a roadblock with the Cinema 4D Workshop 11 book. While creating the flashlight, I can’t get the light bulb to shine through the glass lens. Only when I turn off the lens does the shine reflect out and on the floor in front of the flashlight. So the lens must have some property preventing any light from passing through. I even have the glass matching the settings as shown in the book. Any suggestions here?

I kinda remember doing that exercise a while back. If I recall correctly I had the same issue. So I just simply hided the lens, since you won’t be able to see it anyhow when the bulb shines. And if I wanted to render with the light off, then I just switched the lens visibility back on.

Right…it’s weird how the light just doesn’t pass through the glass. Its transparent and you can see the reflector and bulb underneath (without the light material applied). There must be some setting I’m missing.

I don’t have the book, but if you can post the scene I’d be happy to take a look. You can probably delete everything but the light and the lense.
