HI! I’m very new to Cinema 4D lite. The file that I created using Cinema 4D Lite doesn’t show in After Effects. The icon of the file is shown as exec (the file is .C4D).

I opened a new Cinema 4D file through After Effects and saved it in CInema 4D lite and went back to AE.

I know it seems like a very basic question but can’t figure it out why. I’d love it if someone can help me.

Weird….so you made a new Maxin Cinema 4D layer and it doesn’t show up? Are you in a comp with other layers? And what do you mean it’s an .exec file? Mind posting a screenshot?

Thank you for the reply, Paul.

This is what I did. I opened a new Cinema 4D file via AE and saved the file in C4D and got back to AE. And this is what happens.
Since this is day 1 to use C4D, I followed a tutorial and don’t know what I do wrong.

By the way, it’s AE CC 13.6.1.6 and Cinema 4D Lite 16.038.

    Thank you!

So did you make this C4D file or get it off the internet? Because if you got it off the internet, chances are it might have been for windows, since it shows as .exec.

I made the file from scratch. I didn’t get it from the Internet.

This is how I made the file:

    File>New>C4D in After Effects
Named the file with the extension of .c4d
    Opened the file in C4D
    Saved it in C4D
Went back to AE and this is what happens

Someone on the Adobe forum said you. should always open it in AE. Never from the folder etc.
