    Hi,

I am currently building a logo motion graphic. I want to build the logo in Cinema 4D 10, animate camera sweeps and lights, then export the images and camera/light data to After Effects 7. There I will use the camera data with Particular, Lux and 3D Invigorator models. I have put the Cinema 4D plugin into my After Effects plugins folder. I am very new to Cinema 4D. This is the first time I’ve ever attempted something like this and found no tutorials on Lynda, and only the basic PDF that comes with C4D. I would be really grateful if anyone can give me any tips or point me towards a comprehensive tutorial dealing with C4D/AE intergration.

    Many thanks,

    Chris

I only have cinema 4d 9.6, and it came with several CD’s. I assume v. 10 is all on one big dvd. Look for two projects called “cube” and “misaki.” The cube one has a sample C4D file you can open and study the render settings. To export camera data go into render, render settings, save. There at the bottom is a little check box called compositing project, where you choose after effects, and a save button. Make sure the 3d data box is checked as well. This will export a .aec file, which is an “after effects composition.” After effects can then import it via the plug in you installed. (Command-I) The imported composition should contain the camera and lights data, as well as the footage assembled into the various layers. Also, here on the COW there is an older tutorial on this subject. Look under Cinema 4D tutorials. Hope that helps.

Should the C4D.plugin work with CS4 do you know, is is the one available?

I’ve dropped the plugin into my After Effects CS4 folder, imported the .aec file saved from C4D but nothing happened?

I think I may not be producing the AEC file from C4D properly, I added a ‘compositing’ tag to all the objects in my scene, went to ‘render settings > save > clicked ‘save image’ and chose the path > checked ‘compositing project file – after effects’ > checked ‘3d data’ and ‘relative’ and clicked ‘save’.

This saved an AEC file, nothing else, and nothing happens when I try to import it into after effects, please can anyone tell me where I’m going wrong or what I need to do to make it work?

    Thanks.
