OK, I have some 1080 “F” (Canon) HDV footage that I captured with Cineform Prospect HD. Dropped it into a Cineform sequence in CS4 and started cutting. All well and good. Closed the project and when I reopened it, red bar above the footage. Huh? Should be native, so shouldn’t need to render. But I render anyhow, and now the footage is the wrong aspect ratio, stretched tall and extending out the top of the screen, as if were misinterpreting the PAR. Create a new sequence, drop the footage into it, and everything looks and behaves fine until I close the project. Reopen, it wants to render, and weirdness again. Any ideas?

Do the sequence settings change after the project closes?

…it sounds like a bug, but without some investigation, it might be tough to tell who it belongs to.

Have you tried a native sequence and used a few un-converted Canon clips for comparison?

Good call. When I create the sequence, the Video Preview File format is Cineform AVI. When the project restarts, the preview format has been reset to Microsoft AVI, DV 24p codec. This is the first time I have tried to use Cineform in quite a bit. I had given up after I upgraded to CS4 and couldn’t capture directly into Premiere. I’ll bounce this over to the Cineform techs.
