    Hello,

I am working with a 32G Compact Flash Card and after transferring the footage to my Macbook Pro. I import the footage into my new Project in FCP. Whenever I click on the clip it comes up naturally in the Canvas viewer however it comes out choppy. Once I drag the selection of the clip to the timeline and render it, the footage works fine and seems to be smooth. Am I being tricked here or is this all right? how reliable is the canvas viewer window really?

    All the Best!

    1) Did you shoot using an SLR such as the 5D2, or 7D?
    2) Did you convert the footage to ProRes before beginning the editing process?
(There are numerous pages detailing proper workflow for SLR cameras in Final Cut Pro)
    3) Are you using the internal drive on your MacBook to edit? You need an external, Firewire based drive for editing.
