I’ve been thinking about this for a while. I’m a freelance video editor and want to get a 14″ laptop for remote video editing. The Asus ROG G14 seems like the best bet for my budget (up to about £1500, although this is the very top of my budget, would rather keep it to £1300).

So in terms of processor, I think the Ryzen 7 (4800HS) is the sweet spot. The R5 is only 6 cores and the R9 does not seem to give a lot more performance.

GPU is the tricky one. My understanding is I really want 6GB VRAM so the RTX 206advice on what laptop 0 seems the best bet. My understanding is this is a lot better than the RTX 3050ti (which has only 4GB). The 1650TI also only has 4GB. Finding it difficult to find advice on laptop GPUs. The ones available for this laptop are GTX 16650TI, RTX 3050TI, RTX 2060. There are others but they push it above my budget.

For context, I will be ending mainly 4k shot on a GH4 but want to be able to deal with the majority of 4k codecs.

I will mainly be using Resolve but also have to use Premiere for some projects.

Am I on the correct track?

    Ben
