Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy Choosing setup

I just upgraded to FCP 7. I’m working with dv sd material in projects with dv timelines and also in ProRes timelines. I want to convert any dv timelines to ProRes and have ProRes as the default for new timelines.

I presume that in the Easy Setup window, for Formats I click “all formats” and for Use I pull down the Custom setup to Apple ProRes 422. However the Use pulldown menu does not have ProRes as an option.

    What’s wrong?

In the meantime I presume that Timeline Settings overrides Easy Setup, yes?

    Thanks.

Duplicate any easy setup and modify it.
Let it checked in the “Sequence Presets” and will be your default whenever you open a new Sequence.

Oh I see there are a million setups in the Final Cut Pro Additional Easy Setups folder on the desktop. The Help menu seems to be telling me that if I want them I have to reinstall FCP.

I presume I can just ignore the Easy setup feature and the project and its timelines will never know, yes?

    Thanks.

    You don’t need to reinstall.
Open in FC “Easy Setups” and you will find a kind of “Setups manager”.
Select the one you want to be available in FC.
Or you can just drag them from the “Additional Easy Setups folder ” to the FC “Custom Setting” folder.
