Choices to upgrade to FCS 3 on a new Mac Pro
Hello,
I currently own a PowerMac Dual 2.0 / 4Gb of Ram / and a Blackmagic Extreme card. I use Final Cut Studio 2.
It’s been 3 and a half years and I would like to upgrade my system to be able to work faster. Lately I’ve been working with HD footage; I mainly just edit on Final Cut Pro but sometimes I add stuff from Motion and Color to the sequences I edit.
I have been reading posts and what I get is “buy the more you can afford”..I would lke to get the Final Cut Studio update but first I want to purchase a Mac Pro. Of course I cant go to high because my budget is limited. I’m interested on speed and a smooth workflow between applications and of course have something that is not gonna be too old in a year.
So, what do you guys recommend between:
a Quad-Core with the 2.93Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon and 8 Gb of Ram…
or an 8-core with two 2.26Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon and 8Gb of Ram (or maybe 12) ??
To get the option with Two 2.66Ghz Quad-Core is $1,400 more.. is t worth it ?
As far as the capture card, the one I have is Standard definition, but I’m also looking forward to get one with the capability of standard and HD since I still output to some standard def decks. Any recommendations?
Thank you
