After reading the manual I’m led to believe that using the (+#) tag on a Photoshop Layer I can automatically link to a specific Chapter in a timeline. For example it seems like the layer set “(+#)Chapter 1” should generate a link to Chapter 1 in the timeline. I could have sworn that I got it to work once but I have not been able to do it again.

That’s only half of it (and you don’t need to do this work in Photoshop) – you need to select the “Create Chapter Index” command.

Do a search of the help for “chapter index” and everything you need to do this will be revealed.

I did see that part about Chapter Indexing. I was hoping to script the menu creation in Photoshop or After Effects, I guess the Chapter Index feature is good enough. So you’re saying that what I was asking isn’t possible?

No, there’s no way to build a menu in Photoshop that automatically links buttons to a timeline.

The Chapter Index feature is what you read about, and it is possible to add the prefixes in Photoshop – but that won’t link the buttons for you (you must select the “Create Chapter Index” command).
