I’ve been shooting using Fujifilm in my Canon GL2 and have always used a Sony GV-D1000 (mini VCR) to capture the tape into PPro 1.5 to save wear and tear on the camera. I’ve finished capturing all the Fuji, and have decided to upgrade to Panasonic pro tapes from here on out, so I got my camera cleaned at the factory before switching brands, but am unsure what to do about the Sony clamshell. It’s not viable to get it profesionally cleaned, yet I’m reluctant to use a head cleaner on it, since they’re supposed to be so abrasive (did so once in its life, several months ago), but I’m also afraid to switch tape brands in it without doing something. Need to make a decision very soon so all thoughts out there appreciated on this.
    thanks-
    Ruby

The head cleaners are abrasive, but not terribly so for short periods when done infrequently. Just run 10 seconds and that should do it.
