  • changing shortcut for camera view?

    i’ve tried to look this up online and both recommendations of using “assign shortcut to Active Camera” and holding shift while selecting an F key haven’t worked. I’m on a mac so whenever i hit the F9-F11 keys it affects the Dock and finder. Basically, i just want to reasign my shortcut keys for the different camera views, any suggestions?

    You can edit you shortcut preferences;

    they are located in:
    User/Library/Preferences/Adobe/AfterEffects/8.0/
    and called
    Adobe After Effects 8.0 Shortcuts.txt

    make a backup of the file and change the settings you want;

    “SwitchTo3DViewFirst” = “(F10)”
    “SwitchTo3DViewB” = “(F11)”
    “SwitchTo3DViewC” = “(F12)”

    is there not an easier way to do this directly through AE?
    i’m still not getting the results i’m looking for. I just want to assign shortcuts
    to Active Camera, left and top views….any suggestions?
    i got F1 to do a top view, F2 does a custom view (which i don’t want) and F3 has
    no effect on the camera at all, even though i switched it in the shortcut preferences…

    The Key-bindings only can be set in the txt-file,
    I’ve heard they’ll change it in CS17 😉

    AE only allows 3 camera shortcuts to 3 keys

    Don’t forget to use the ‘ Assign Shortcut to “X camera” ‘
    So if you’re in Front view and use the “Assign to”, the camera will be mapped to the selected function key.

    Make sure there’s no other binding to F3

    in my txt file I can find : “ToggleEffectControls” = “(Ctrl+Shift+T)(F3)”
    so you’ll need to delete the F3 there

    When you look for something…
    the first thing you’ll find is something else …

    made me think about this topic,

    there seems to be a script to bind shortcuts inside CS3 !
