  • Changing frame rate after animating

Posted by Zonkin on November 28, 2005 at 12:00 am

I’m currently working on my first c4d project. And I’m spending quite an amount of time looking through the manual.
My problem is this. I found out that my frame rate had been set to 30 since the beginning of the project. I changed it to 25, as that was what I had in mind when I set up the 500 frames.
The animation stayed relative to the seconds. So now the animation ended at about frame 416. The stupid thing is that there now is a yellow line in the F-curve editor, which I can’t drag the keyframes over. And I can’t set key frames after 416.
Yes, I have checked in the manual and on the internets, but to no use.
    How do I solve this?

well, I presume you have to extend your Timeline –
Go to Edit/Project-Settings and choose your
    Framerate and Minimum/Maximum-Frame.
You can then set Keyframes in your choosen area
    in the F-Curve-Manager or Timeline

I’ve already done that. My start frame is 0, my end frame is 500 and my frame rate is 25. But there’s still a yellow line on frame 416. The gray field in the F-curve manager doesn’t start before frame 500 though.

To have keyframes after your frame 416, you need to also extend the sequenses (yellow lines where the keys are “attached” to).
I guess all you need to do is select all keyframes and drag the red little handle to the right all the way to frame 500.
The animation will then be scaled to fit the new length. If there is no “last” key frame at 416, you might put a fake one there first, then drag.

    Cheers

Seemed that I only had to set a keyframe after the yellow line to move it. To bad it didn’t work like that yesterday.
Thanks for the help! (The yellow line defines the end and start frame of the object, it’s vertical and short.)

When I export now, I only get 17-18 seconds of animation. But I have 545 frames at 25 a second, which should translate into over 21 seconds…
I’ve taken the time in the working view and there it lasts for 21 seconds.
I’ve changed the frame rate to 25 in all kinds of places. Project settings, animation, render settings> output, render settings> quicktime movie options and last in the preview window. It still only lasts for 18 seconds.

Are there some kind of preview settings I don’t know about?

Do you really have to change all these settings just to adjust the frame rate?

I found the codec settings in the preview window… Funny how I find out these things 3 seconds after I ask. Writing it down prolly helps my head.
