hey everyone, so I have this problem where I want to overlay a clip over another clip so I set it above the bottom clip and then change the track’s transfer mode to overlay. The clips on the top and bottom are a certain length, lets say 30 seconds. However, if my video is 2 minutes long, any clip in the bottom layer is still effected by some wierd overlay effect even if there are no clips in the top (overlay) layer.

I want to know how I can set the transfer mode of a single clip to overlay rather than the entire track and if this can’t be done, is there a way around it? (maybe parenting?)

I know how to do this in after effects but I rather not because I find it easier to work with audio in realtime in vegas video. Thanks in advance 🙂

that was my entire problem, if i change the tracks track’s transfer mode to overlay, it creates a wierd effect on the bottom track even when there are no clips in the top overlayed track.

That is why i want only the one clip i want overlayed to be in the overlay transfer mode rather than the entire track. Let me know if I am not being clear.

Those “modes” are only available at the track level. Perhaps if you explain what you’re really wanting to do a better suggestion might be possible.

Try this. Place one track over another and then put the curser at the top center of the top video in the time line. The curser should turn into a hand. drag downward to decreace the opacity of that video event only and not every video on that track. Follow me??
