If I change a filename of a referenced file on the hard drive and it breaks the connection (Media Offline), I can’t seem to be able to reconnect it? Is there an option to point the clip to the changed filename? Sometime I need to add an attribute to the filename.

Also, sometimes I change the resolution of the source file and want to replace the current clip in the timeline. Any way to achieve this via a swap or overwrite.

I am not sure about Resolve 12, but you can try the following:

    1. in Edit page, select the the new clip in the media pool.
    2. Then in your timeline, highlight the clip you want to change, ctrl-click and select in the local drop-down menu, Force to conform media
    3. assuming your TC and clip length is the same , it should replace the highlighted clip with the clip from the media pool
