Change file icons – not just one but for every file – Mac
Hi, I know how to change an icon by using get info. But this only changes one icon, for example if I have a Doc file that I change it will only change that file, all of the other Doc icons will remain their default appearance. I do have Candybar but it does not address every file there is. Is there a way go change a file types icon, that changes all of them? Thanks Gina

Go -> Go to Folder
/System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources/Look for the GenericDocumentIcon.icns file. Put one copy on your desktop (for editing) and another somewhere else (for backup). You can then open the desktop copy in preview, save as a .png, edit / change / whatever, save again. Change the file extension. Put that new file in the same folder, overwrite, restart. Should work.
