My Compact Flash drive is not showing up on my Mac Pro’s desktop, and does not display in disk utility either. However, I am able to use said drive without issues when I plug it into my Macbook Pro.

I am using a Canon 5D Mark II, and when I plug my camera into my Mac Pro directly the Canon utility opens and reads the files without a hitch. However, there is still nothing displayed on the desktop.

    What gives?

    Thanks.

I would back-up the files and reformat the card.

I’m certain it’s not a card issue as it reads fine on my laptop.

May be not a CF issue, but for sure is not a FC issue.
    Is something system/media related.
On your Mac Pro, it doesn’t shows grayed on the DiskUtilities?

You’re right, not a FC issue, and not a CF issue, also isn’t found on the disk utility either, I think the firewire connection may be faulty, probably need to take it to the Apple Store and see what the problem is.

    thanks for your input.

could be a port issue, a cable issue. there is no drives needed to mount cards so you just need to start swapping things out.

Sounds like the connection on the Mac Pro. Try plugging it into the Firewire port at the back.
