I am under deadline pressure but my good old trusty G5s are playing up.
I need to restore an image sequence off a series of DVDs burned with Toast.
However the computer I wish to put the files on won’t fire up some of the discs when inserted. Yet on my other Mac, all the DVDs are recognized and mount properly. But I don’t have the storage required on this Mac!
I have tried re-burning the offending discs but even the fresh discs won’t mount.
Both G5s run OSX 10.4.11. Any ideas please?

I had been running a Maxtor external drive but I plugged that in to one of the Firewire ports of the G5 after previously having removed it for security reasons. Light went on, it started spinning then ground to a halt. Now that won’t mount – not even seeing the light at the front (no power?) What is going on?

Sounds like your optical drive is having a problem you should probably sign up for an appointment at your closest Apple Store.
