    Hi,

I’m having some problems with CC light sweep when rendering. I’m using it on a lot of shots, and on some of these shots, when rendered out to DV AVI… I’m getting a blocky look to some of them, especially when played back on DVD (MPEG2) on a plasma TV.

I think one of the following issues may be the cause.

    1. The scene consists of a lot of bluescreen shots, the backgrounds are jpegs created in 3DS max. Perhaps they should be rendered out as Bitmaps, which I can also do. In the preview window in AE they look great, it’s only when rendered do they become blocky. This only happens on some shots, again, only when using lightsweep.

    2. I captured the live action footage via firewire, as avi video files through Premiere Pro, then rendered what I needed from each take as DV AVI. I really don’t know wether I should have rendered them out as QT movies first. As I understand, a DV AVI is the same format as the image you get on a DV camera, it’s just that a regular AVI is a much larger file size, why this is I don’t know.

    3. If I start rendering out QT movies, which codec do you need to use for broadcast quality video ? Sorenson 3 ?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Steven.

if you render out as TGA files you can include alpha channels for your 3d objects
