CC HDV-Kona3
I had mentioned this incident as an “also” in a previous post, but got no feedback, so I thought I try again as a separate question.
I have shot in HDV and am editing in a Kona 3 1080i HDV playback setting (render in ProRez).
I have noticed that if I go to the color correction window, on a paused frame, my levels appear to be clamped at 100% (but I can see that the highlights are really above 100%) When I hit play I see my histogram & WF shoot up into the red + 100 range. If I lower the highlights (in 3 way CC) they lower from the clamp point (100%). So I really can’t accurately adjust.
I’ve transcoded the footage to ProRez and I am now seeing the full dynamics of the signal (while paused in histogram & WF) and can adjust the highlights properly.
Am I missing something? Any insights would be greatly appreciated?

Thanks for the response. Your explanation sounds perfectly logical.
And, if that is the case I should be able to move to an I frame and get a proper reading. (I’ll try that later & get back with results)In the mean time, it strikes me as odd that no one else is trying to CC HDV and encountering this problem.
