    Hey guys —

Anyone know any good reference sites for CC HAIR?
I need to make a character grow a beard.

I know I can just animate the length, but is there anyway to make it more realistic (or should i just say…LESS HOKEY)?

I doubt you will achive ultimate realism. CC HAir is strictly pixel based and at least the lighting will always look flat. It also renders terribly slow. Except for a 3D solution which seems out of the question, to me the better solution would be to use tools such as particular. I’d animate a few hairs growing and then use them as custom particles. It wouldn’t be too difficult to place them using a masked solid in a pre-comp as the area for a layer emitter. You’d only need to set emission velocity to zero and let your hairs grow in place. At least on the cheeks and chin this should give you good results if you don’t exceed a certain length of the hair.

man I should have thought of that….

particular seems to be the answer to everything now-a-days.
