    hi,

    i have three objects here.

    1. a wall (solid layer)
    2. a 2nd wall with a window (solid with a mask) in front of wall no. 1
    3. a spotlight in front of wall no. 2, pointing at wall no. 1

i want to see, the light shining through the wall no.2 ‘window’ reflected on wall no. 1

what’s the trick? I tried several settings in the material preferences but done get the thing i want…

    you know it guys, right?

Here’s a few tuts that should do what you want:

    Rick Gerard’s

Using Projection Layers to create a gobos and projector type effects

    Andrew does it here:

If I understand you correctly you want to have the silhouette of the window on wall number one?

You will need to set the front solid to “Casts Shadows: On” the rear solid to “Accepts Shadows: On” and the light to “Casts Shadows: On.” All of the other settings you can set as you desire, but generally you’ll want both solids to Accept Lights.
