Cassette Tape Audio into Vegas
Posted by Dave Petteruto on December 26, 2005 at 7:48 pmHi All,
How can I get audio from a cassette into vegas. I figure I need to go through my soundcard, but am not sure how to hook it up. Can I get a chord with two male ends and use the headphone jack output on my cassette player and go into the soundcard that way? Any help would be much appreciated.

If you use the headphone out connected to sound card in, you may get an overloaded distorted sound, so best to use a cassete player with Line Out connected to sound card line in. However you can experiment if you only have headphone out – you may be able to achieve a good level.
Windows Recording control can be used to select inputs and levels. Once you’re connected, it’s a question of enabling record in a Vegas audio track, starting record then hitting play with the casette.
If any of these steps are new, have a read of the help files first – it’s good to get familiar with the basics of all the various ways of getting sound and vision in or out of Vegas.

December 27, 2005 at 6:01 amIf you do use the headphone out method…be sure to go into the LINE in and NOT the MIC in. The mic in has much more gain.
