I’ve been using the Zoom H4 and now the H6. I came from a background using a portable mixer (Shure FP33) which was clearly designed for the field audio pro. The mixer controls were right at my fingertips and the PortaBrace mixer case had a pouch for lav packs.

Now, using the H4 or H6, I can’t figure out a good way to operate them in the field. They both have a hole for a strap or lanyard, so they could be worn around the neck. But that still leaves one or two lav packs dangling. I’ve thought about trying to find some kind of mixer case to put the H4 or H6 in, but that would put the inputs and controls down inside of the case and out of reach.

With so many people using these recorders, has anyone come up with a decent solution?

i have a mixer with a strap. On that strap I put some DUAL LOCK at about my chest level. This allows me to fix the zoom at a good place where i can see the meters, control the buttons etc but not have to hold it.
