Card Wipe question, flip from nothing to something
I have another question on card wipe. I want to be able to flip from nothing (blank layer) to a image. How can this be achieved? The card flip is set to a 12 by 12 grid, top left to bottom right….with alot of randomness. So basically when the movie starts you will see nothing but the fractal bgrd. Then the image will be flipped into place by card wipe (over the fractal bgrd).

Actually I have a question on shine as well. I have a psd that is pre-comped then has a 3d camera applied so it is angled. Now the factal bgrd has a sort of light burst effect happening. Whit I would like to attempt is have a sort of volumetric light effect happening like light rays coming from behind the precomped psd, like it is interrupting the light. But when I apply (trapcode) shine it applies to entire object (inside the psd), and not around the edges. Also how can I get the rays to respect the camera angle? Any help on any of the topics is greatly appreciated.

Unless I misunderstand you, why not just reverse the transition completion values with the back layer in Card Wipe set to “none”? I do that a lot of times and it usually does the trick.

wow not sure how I missed that option “none”…lol. Thanks man, that works. Any idea on my second question? I am trying a bunch of stuff And I cannot get it to glow/light rays around the edges.

Your Shine problem is more one of your layer order and cannot be solved otherwise meaning you need to rearrange your project layout… Volumetric shadows can easily be faked by using a second instance of Shine used as a Luminance Silhouette or simply tinted black and used in Multiply mode. You can derive positional data from a 3D layer to use with Shine by means of some simple expressions. I suggest you look at http://www.motionscript.com for Dan’s lesson on layer space transforms (the one with the lensflare) to understand those matters. Basically you only need to add a dummy 3D layer or light as a reference for the Shine source point…
