I am trying to capture voice over audio from a microphone & mixer to Media Composer 6.0.4 on the XLR analog audio inputs of my Black Magic Decklink Studio 2. I haven’t been able to get any analog audio to register on audio inputs either on Avid or in the control panel at System Preferences->Sound->Input Blackmagic Audio.

After scouring the web, I finally found that this was due to the fact that the BlackMagic cards need to be connected to a stable video source to record audio.

My problem I don’t have any video sources to connect to — I am currently working in tapeless projects only. Is there an inexpensive solution to get the right format video to connect to my Black Magic card so that I can record VO?

In a few weeks, I will have to digitize from some older analog sources (like VHS tapes) and was hoping to use the S-Video inputs. Will I experience this same problem when I try to connect S-Video connections to the card and digitize analog audio as well?

    Thanks,
    Andy Robertson
